Peeling
What is cosmetic peeling?
Peeling is a dermo-cosmetic treatment aimed at exfoliating the skin, i.e. removing dead cells and impurities that are deposited on the surface of the skin and thus stimulating cell renewal. Peeling is performed after cleansing and consists of applying a product rich in active substances such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids aimed at exfoliation and cell stimulation.
WHAT IS PEELING USED FOR?
Exfoliation with cosmetic peeling promotes epidermal turnover and thus contributes to a smooth, firm and radiant appearance of the skin.
Dead cells that are not removed by cosmetic peeling tend to become fixed on the skin surface and this leads to dullness of the complexion, reduced elasticity and overall hydration of the skin.
As well as giving a fresher and brighter appearance, peeling, together with specific facial treatments, helps to stimulate the skin's regenerative process, which is slowed down with the passage of time and by external factors such as smoking, alcohol, incorrect eating habits and lifestyle.
How it works
Exfoliation by means of cosmetic peeling makes the skin more receptive to absorbing moisturising and anti-ageing substances applied with targeted and customised subsequent treatments and medical facial treatments with special equipment such as:

For your beauty
Medical peelings differ from cosmetic peelings in their depth of action, the exfoliation can be more or less invasive depending on the concentration and mode of use, which is determined by the doctor as well as the frequency. This type of peeling should only be performed by medical personnel in an outpatient setting. We invite you to book a personalised check-up at your nearest MedikalBeauty Institute outpatient centre.
There are different types of medical peelings, here are the ones mainly used:
- Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA): mainly lactic acid and glycolic acid. Alpha-hydroxy acids, also known as fruit acids, are naturally occurring substances rich in sugar cane, unripe grapes and beetroot, but they can also be reproduced synthetically. Alpha hydroxy acids, in particular, glycolic acid is used in small concentrations in cosmetic peelings and in high concentrations up to 70% in medical peelings, so such peelings must be carried out by a doctor and have a deep smoothing action.
- Beta-hydroxy acids (BHA): these include salicylic acid, which acts superficially and is mainly used to treat acne.
- Alpha-keto acids: including mainly pyruvic acid, a substance used in so-called soft peeling, it has a sebostatic function and is therefore used in acne treatments.
