What is Filler?
A filler is an aesthetic medicine treatment that uses filling substances, mainly hyaluronic acid, to fill in static ageing wrinkles, smooth out superficial or deeper facial folds and restore volume in certain areas of the face for a younger, fresher appearance 4.
FILLER WHERE CAN IT BE DONE?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be applied in the following areas:
- nasolabial grooves: to fill in wrinkles from the outer corner of the nostril to the corners of the mouth
- lips: to increase volume and better define the lip contour
- nose: to correct minor imperfections
- corners of the mouth: in the presence of so-called 'marionette' wrinkles
- cheekbones: to restore volume and tone.
The filler can also be used to correct scarring from previous surgery or trauma.
How is the filler made?
Aesthetic medical treatment with fillers is carried out in a doctor's surgery exclusively by injecting small doses of hyaluronic acid directly into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue of the affected area with a very fine needle. Usually the filler treatment is well tolerated, but if necessary an anaesthetic ointment can be applied to reduce discomfort.
The effects of the filler are visible immediately and last about 6 months, in which time it is absorbed, after which the treatment can be repeated to maintain the result.
WHEN CAN FILLER NOT BE USED?
Filler treatment should be avoided when the area is injured, infected or inflamed. This type of treatment should also be avoided in the presence of autoimmune diseases. The doctor will take a preliminary anamnesis to assess the individual case.
