What the shock wave is and how it works

Le shock waves are high-energy mechanical impulses that originated in urology in the 1970s (lithotripsy) and were later used in orthopaedics and physiatry. In aesthetic medicine act on the adipose pannicles and on the microcirculation, triggering biological processes that lead to:

• weakening of fibrous septa responsible for the orange-peel appearance;
• best vascularisation and increase in blood flow local;
• stimulus to tissue regeneration (fibroblasts, collagen, elastin) and the cell proliferation.

The result is a more firm, smooth and elastic, with reduced depressions and improved comfort to the touch.

Combined technology: Shockwave + Vacuum therapy

Our devices associate vacuum therapy (controlled aspiration of the skin fold) to theballistic shockwave. The vacuum concentrates energy on the plica avoiding dispersion, promotes microcirculation and skin trophism, and makes the wave action more selective on the adipose tissue (lipoclasia and subsequent disposal).

Negotiable zones

Shock waves are applied, unless contraindicated, on: calves, thighs, buttocks, hips, abdomen, arms. A medical check-up initial setting of priorities and parameters, distinguishing true oedematous-fibro-sclerotic panniculopathy (PEFS) from other conditions.

How a session is conducted and recommended route

The handpiece suction the plica (vacuum) and the “bombard”with pulses of shockwave. The feeling is of discomfort/pressure sometimes accompanied by slight pain; after the session there may be redness, rare bruises or capillary ruptures in predisposed individuals.
Treatment is often included in customised paths and combined with lymphatic drainage/pressotherapy, food plans and other technologies. 

When to start and how many meetings

Shockwave is recommended already from stage 1 of cellulite. The first changes are usually quick e progress with sessions. The number of sessions is customised (defined by the doctor according to severity, area and individual response).

Safety and contraindications

Treatment is generally well tolerated, but it must be executed in the doctor's surgery by experienced personnel, after informed consent and clinical evaluation. È not recommended in case of: heart disease, circulatory or oncological pathologies, pacemaker wearers, metal prostheses in the area to be treated, marked capillary fragility. Beware of abnormal prices and inadequate equipment.
